Manchester Futsal Club recently had the honour of hosting the Chinese U15 National Football Team during their visit to Manchester - an exciting moment of cultural and sporting exchange that underlined the growing relationship between football and futsal.

The Chinese delegation was in the UK to play a series of friendly fixtures against top academy teams, including Manchester United. As part of their football tour, the squad took the opportunity to attend a Manchester Futsal Club first-team game, giving the young players a rare chance to experience elite futsal up close.

Their visit to the club provided a powerful insight into the speed, skill, and intensity of top-level futsal - an experience that complemented their football development and introduced them to another layer of the beautiful game.

“This was a fantastic opportunity, not only for the Chinese players to see futsal live but also for us to show what we’ve built in Manchester,” said Ilya Ovechkin - Co-Founder of Manchester Futsal Club.

“There’s a strong futsal culture here. We are a Champions League club, and it’s important that our international visitors know there’s more than just football in this city- there’s also a high-performing futsal community.”

The visit highlighted Manchester Futsal Club’s role as a key part of the footballing landscape in Manchester and beyond - helping bridge the worlds of futsal and football while representing the city on the international stage.

Simon Wright, Co-Founder of Manchester Futsal Club, expressed pride in what the club has become: “It’s great to see young international footballers stepping into our environment and appreciating what futsal has to offer. This kind of exchange strengthens the connection between football and futsal and shows the global appeal of our game. Manchester Futsal Club is proud to be a place where those worlds can come together.”

As Manchester continues to attract elite international teams for training, learning, and competitive opportunities, Manchester Futsal Club is proud to be a destination that showcases a different side of the game.

The club hopes this visit marks the start of a long-lasting relationship with the Chinese National Team and more opportunities to collaborate with footballing nations around the world.
